Carnival in San Candido
The carnival is the most clownish time of the year and there is a lot of entertainment in program also here in San Candido. For example on the ski slopes, where the ski school Baranci San Candido organizes a masked ski-run with torches on Thursday 11th, and on Tuesday 16th of February 2010. In program also a masked ball on Monday 15th of February, organized by the fire brigade of San Candido. And not to forget, Saint Valentine’s Day this year is during carnival. Sledging in San Candido
San Candido is a real winter paradise for adults and for children. Especially children like a funny sledging tour. At the ski area Monte Baranci in San Candido you find a toboggan run which start directly at the station at the mountain and which, after about 3 km, arrives at the station at the valley. The toboggan run is reachable by chairlift. For adults we suggest a toboggan run during night, which is in program again on the 5th of February and on the 5th of March 2010. Obviously the chairlift to the mountain Baranci will be open. At the Hotel Panorama Leitlhof you find, during all the winter months, a lot of offers, also last minute, to enjoy winter holiday in San Candido. In San Candido you find other two toboggan run, the toboggan run “Thermal Sources” and the toboggan run “Campo di Dentro”.
International snow festival
Today starts the international snow festival in San Candido. Teams of all over the world will form on big snow blocks (3 x 3 x 3 m) sculptures. To realize that within the 15th of January 2010, the teams can only use water and her tools. The creations will dominate the village and, the low winter temperatures, will contribute to give the sculptures a long last. We,

Winter hiking in Alta Pusteria
Winter hiking is healthy and relaxing. The Alta Pusteria valley offers a lot of hiking paths, which all the winter are kept free of new snow, so that they are always walkable.
Our tip: the winter hiking way through the Val Campo di Dentro. From the parking (near the road between Sesto and San Candido) it is only about 1 hour of walk up to the refuge Tre Scarperi. Take with you also a toboggan, so, at the way back fun is assured.

Visit the Christmas Market in Brunico
Bright lights, the scents of pines, cinnamon, vanilla and mulled wine… this is the advent season. Enjoy this time in the Panorama Hotel Leitlhof in San Candido and have a visit to the Christmas Market in Brunico, which is only 30 km away. Just for 12 years this Market has attracted thousands of visitors with its atmosphere. Here you find a lot of gift ideas, especially traditional South Tyrolean products. But the Christmas Market offers also an interesting program of events, for example the “Living Nativity”: the figures of the “living nativity”, Mary and her Child, Joseph, the shepherds and servants, the Three Kings, sheep, oxen, donkeys and horses, walk in procession through the town center.

During the Golden Ski time, from the 9th to the 23rd of December 2009, you get the skipass for free if you book an overnight stay of 4 nights. For example, if you book 4 nights in the Panorama Hotel Leitlhof in San Candido, you will get the skipass for free for 4 days, if you book 6 nights, so you get it for 6 days. In the meantime the first snow is just fallen and the ski opening in Alta Pusteria is fixed for the 04th of December 2009.
